1965 Oribe 10

Post by David Conti » Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:15 pm

Here is my 10 string, 1965 Jose Oribe made originally for Angel Romero.
Check out the amazing straight grained Brazilian rosewood.
And it sounds like only an aged beautiful spruce can sound.
My teacher was Vince Macaluso (now sadly deceased) and he played a cedar 10 string Oribe so when I stumbled on this I had to have it.

Oribe guitars are so well constructed, there will be many hanging around 200 years from now.
Don't know about the saddles though. They look like they need some shaping. Maybe it is just the picture angle?

No issue with the saddles and it actually came with an extra set and nut so you can space the 4 low strings away from the "normal" six.

Oribe’s workmanship and materials are always first class. The late Vince Macaluso recorded his LP’s on an Oribe 10-string, Brazilian and cedar Calidad Suprema.

I once had this Macaluso LP with the 5th french suite by Bach.
Sadly this LP got lost when I moved house.
Gratulations to your lovely guitar.

Oribe did a clever job with the tuners, putting together two sets of normal tuners.

Remember, back in 1965, no one was making machine heads for 10-string instruments.
