Burgmüller, J. F. F. - Nocturne for Cello and Guitar - Duo

Post by soltirefa » Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:38 am

This is in response to Classguitar's post of the same piece, which he played as flute and guitar ... very nicely I might add. This is me and my niece. She's the cello. Here is the score to the piece we're playing.

Hi Soltirefa,

Very lovely and soothing!
I forgot that these pcs were written for C & G!
Congratulations to you and Ms. Lindsey for a wonderful performance.
You've helped me start a hectic day very peacefully.

Are you working on other pcs together? Hope to hear much more!

Thanks Vesuvio and "Classitar." I see I miss-stated your screen name before. Oops! I wasn't aware there was a version of this piece for flute and guitar. I figured you just used the violin version. My niece and I would like to learn the third of these Nocturnes someday. She and I live in different cities, so getting together is rare.

Soltirefa,

Wonderful music.
Actually this is one of my favorites, I have a CD at home with exactly the same piece by Burgmuller which I have listend to for more than 10 years.

The CD is by Duo Levy & Ben Attar.

Hello,

Great !

Actually I do play this with my son, 12 years old, and it is a beautiful piece. You play both very well!

Can you recommend more of this kind (we have already two more "Nocturnes" by Burgmueller)?

Best wishes,

Nice! I just recently started playing this with a violinist.
Have you done the second one? It's a bit more difficult with all the F-major barre chords and some other finger twisters (C sus 4 with sharp 5?), but it has some really fun chord substitutions and a little more drama!

Have you done the second one?
We have not done that one yet. But I read through it and know what you're talking about with the barre chords.
