looking for guitar teacher, local, skype, asynchronous

Post by swilson2 » Thu Oct 25, 2018 7:48 pm

Hi all, my first posting here. I've benefited from threads in this forum for a while and finally just registered. i've noodled on guitar for 30+ years and can get around the fretboard fairly well. I've never had a lesson (if youtube doesn't count) and don't read music. I've played mostly acoustic steel string and electric guitar but several years back I bought a classical guitar, first to play bossa nova but now to play more challenging works, involving a considerable amount of classical technique. I've got a dozen or so Ralph Towner tunes under my belt and enjoy playing Pat Metheny, Egberto Gismonti and others, so more Jazz type tunes played in a more or less classical style. I suspect the repertoire I'm playing is fairly advanced but I really want to refine technique, organize my practice to more efficiently learn and perform these tunes and learn to read music along the way. Though I'm a classical newbie, starting from scratch isn't appealing. Looking for someone who can meet me where I am and probably also has passing familiarity of guitarists like Ralph Towner, Pat Metheny, John Abercrombie, Egberto Gismonti, etc.

Would love to hear any suggestions.

Thanks,
Shawn
