Hi from NYC

Post by BlaiseJames » Tue Oct 30, 2018 2:14 pm

Hi, all --

About a year ago, I restarted classical/fingerstyle guitar after a years-long hiatus. My grandfather loved to play Segovia and Chet Atkins records when I was little, and it stuck with me.

I studied composition and jazz at Yale, Royal College of Music, Rutgers. But I ultimately ended up in the business world for 20 years, when I didn’t really play guitar. Oh well...no time like the present!

I study with Kevin R. Gallagher in NYC. I am working on Tarrega, Sor and other pieces from the Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic canon.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing country fingerstyle (Atkins, Knowles, Travis). I actually got to play with Chet and John Knowles at the National Guitar Summer Workshop when I was 16.

I am working up to trying out for the NYCCGS guitar ensemble next fall.

I look forward to learning, sharing and befriending.
