Greetings From Midcoast Maine

Post by ccaissie » Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:59 am

I appreciate the depth of information I have found on the site, as I have been researching, and am purchasing an Ibanez Andorra GA 400s guitar. Not a classically trained guitarist, I'm slowly moving over to the world of classical guitars. Earlier, I had played Martin guitars, in particular a 1967 00-18c which was lovely, but did not have the volume and playability of a Washburn C-40 Made in Cadiz, which I have owned for a few decades. Recently, I performed "La Paloma" on the 00-18c. The Martin Classicals are simply not purebred Classical guitars. I currently am playing a 1964 Martin D-18, and a 1969 Yamaha FG-180.

As I step into better guitars, I looked into a Cordoba C9. Recently I had the opportunity to play an Ibanez Andorra and then found one for sale. Researching these on your site has been pleasurable and when I have this guitar in my hands, and playing, I will report in. I have seen photos of the label, and it does NOT have the signature of Ryoji Matsuoka inside. We shall hear.

I have just picked up a beautiful Ibanez Andorra Recital GA-400s. The tone already has me very engaged and I look forward to getting intimate with this guitar. There have been posts re: this series of guitar and I hope to research it and provide compiled information for those who might come across this nice sounding 1980's production.

The purchase of the 1981 Ibanez Andorra GA-400s was made after I played an older Andorra. After new strings on both, the GA-400s is clearly the superior guitar with a solid cedar top vs. the laminate on the 1977 model 5214.
