Hello from North Carolina

Post by Lefty45 » Wed Sep 04, 2019 4:57 am

Thanks for letting me be a part of this forum. Now, a little about me:
I am 45, have been playing guitar for 20 + years with classical being off and on for about 5 years. I would consider myself an intermediate player. I started with blues and classic rock before moving to jazz. Classical came along 6 years ago when I was in school for a BA in Music Therapy. While in school I played several simple (one or two page) pieces as part of the student recitals throughout the years but have never given a purely solo classical guitar recital and don't know if I ever would want to. However I have played tons of background music gigs: solo guitar all the way up to jazz duos, trios and quartets where no one is really paying attention.
I am a semi-professional musician: jazz, musicals, weddings, cover bands, etc. and have been doing that for 20 years; I am also a board certified music therapist (MT-BC) and I teach both high school guitar classes (this is my 3rd year) as well as private lessons (19 years).
My main goal is to become a better classical guitar player because it will strengthen my other areas of playing - mainly my solo jazz guitar playing; I also love the sound of the classical guitar. My classical playing is mainly something I do at home at the moment purely for myself and sometimes my wife, and my dog will sit and listen to me practice sometimes ;-).
Thanks,
Chris

Hello from another North Carolinian! (Triangle area)

My dog gets up and leaves the room when I play guitar, which is mildly disturbing.
He is my most unappreciative audience.
