Hello from North Yorks

Post by BrianMered » Tue Sep 01, 2015 4:45 am

I played steel strung guitars for many years and was lucky enough to visit Japan on a business trip some years ago. I headed for the first music shop I could find in Kyoto and was drawn to the classical guitar section. I tried several lovely guitars including a very nice Ramirez, a Makino, a Raimundo however fell totally in love with a Yamaha GC70 which the salesman brought out from the back office. It had been pre-ordered (6 month production period) by a customer and so they couldn't sell it to me. I was devastated. Nothing else had come close. I left my number and couldn't believe my luck when I received a call prior to my departure from Japan. The original customer had changed his mind and after a bullet train journey from Fukuyama back to
Kyoto the guitar was mine. I will never be able to do it justice but receive immense pleasure from it's tonal range and playability. Maybe one day I will be able to take some lessons in classical guitar but time grows shorter and the bucket list longer.
