US $.3100 Rene Baarslaag Concert cedar 2000, Pittsburgh PA

Post by kcoghlan7 » Sun Apr 03, 2016 6:39 pm

- Type / luthier: classical / Rene Baarslaag
- Year of construction: 2000
- Scale length (mm): 650
- Top: cedar
- Back / Sides: Brazilian Rosewood / Brazilian Rosewood
- Fingerboard / (bridge): ebony
- Sound: Punchy open trebles and basses
- Condition: Excellent; light thumbnail scratches below sound hole
- Price: US $3,100
- Viewing / trial possible: yes / 48 hours
- Location (nearest city): Pittsburgh, PA

A slightly larger body design by one of Granada's finest builders.  [http://guitar-renebaarslag-anaespinosa.com] More in the tradition of Bouchet than other Baarslaag models.  Beautiful, punchy open trebles and rich basses; simple straight forward traditional visual aesthetics.  This instrument has the warmth and darkness of the cedar top coupled with Brazilian rosewood back and sides.  French polish finish.  The original hard shell case is included.
I have owned this instrument since purchased new in 2002.  Regularly setup by a professional luthier.  Kept in humidity controlled environment during the winter.  This lovely instrument is in perfect working condition; no damage, no repairs.  As noted above, there are surface scratches from my right thumb nail below the sound hole.  These could be addressed through refinishing the top, but they are slight.
The instrument is very comfortable to play.  The neck, fretboard and setup support ease in the left hand.  I am selling this beautiful guitar because I have switched to a smaller scale instrument for classical and playing more steel string. New guitars from Rene Baarslaag are much more expensive.

At request of a few interested parties, I am adding more pictures of the Gotoh tuners. I wanted to add more pictures of the case, but it appears I hit some limit on pictures. I removed some pictures and added a few of the case.

I realized that $2,700 was to much of a gift on this fine instrument. So, I am currently asking $3,500. Well below what I paid for it, and thousands less than a new Baarslaag.

Shipping will be based on standard FedEx rates.

Very nice looking guitar from a very good maker.
I'm surprised nobody has snatched it up. $2700 for it is a very good deal.
good luck with the sale.

If I hadn't just bought a beautiful 2012 Cedar Marin Montero, I would buy your guitar. I see the influence of Montero in this instrument, your guitar looks similar to mine. Rene studied with Montero, I believe.

Punchy is a good word to describe the sound of these Bouchet-influenced instruments from Granada.

Good luck with the sale!

Moderator - I would like to lower my price to $3,100, but it appears I cannot because it's older than 21 days. Can you make that change for me? thx

I too expressed an interest and sent a PM to the seller on 9th July with an offer. Quite difficult to attempt to buy it when he does not respond.

If it has since been sold it would be nice to apprise the forum. If it hasn't been sold it would be nice to respond to queries.

Right now, the seller does not respond to PMs. Perhaps I'm doing something wrongly...

Just saying...

Did the PM actually send or is it still sitting in the outbox? I've got a message that's been sitting in the outbox for months because the recipient is no longer signing into the forum :/
