Carlevaro, Abel - Estudio from Modern Times - Video

Post by Juergen Schenk » Fri Jul 27, 2012 4:18 pm

This short study is taken from "Modern Times", Edition Chanterelle, ECH 750. It is No. 35 in the book. The subtitle is "Moviemento alternado". I presume this refers to the changes of fingers in the right hand and also to the frequently changes in time signature. The character of the piece is abstract, strict and cool. Not so bad for a hot (33°) summer day like today :chaud:

Very nice, Juergen. It's always nice to hear some well played Carlevaro.

Thanks Juergen, always helpful to hear somebody else's version of a piece I'm working on!

Also very nicely played, but I know Carlevaro music pretty well, and it is of mixed quality. Interesting compostion technically, but not Alban Berg for sure...

It's a guitar study. Not entirely fair to judge his compositional skill from a short study emphasising technique.

Hi Juergen,

I just wanted to say, I can't get the video to play your piece! The video seems to come and it plays for the first few seconds (the timer shows this) and then it goes back to zero and starts again...I wonder if the issue is with my computer or location (I am in Canada).

And same thing for Carlevaro's Microstudies that you recorded as well. I can't get them to play either!

Again, just wondering what the matter might be here and how it might be resolved!

Thanks, Ken Hay

the issue might be that the attached files to this forum got corrupted after certain server migrations, some of the old corrupted attachments were replaced with the original files, maybe this one hasn't been.

Hello to Sxedio and to Juergen,

Thanks to Sxedio for pointing out the corrupted file and especially to Juergen for reposting the video. and so beautifully played too. There is always a hint of something a bit eerie in Carlevaro for me, not typically melodic. I'm not up on theory so I can't say any more but I like it very much.

Thanks again, Ken
