What kind of strumming is this?

Post by Sebastian » Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:09 pm

Greetings, many of you might know Igor Presnyakov:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo2WMvQblTE

In his video, he employs a type of strumming at 0:25
I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of strumming is that, it looks like he's combining some kind of flamenco (flamenco-esque) strumming with a percussive slap of his thumb finger. if anyone has more information about this please do share.

That's standard rasgueado technique and yes, it is particularly associated with flamenco these days.

Sebastian, YouTube has a number of instructional videos on rasgueado technique (including one by Pepe Romero) which may help you understand the technique better.
