I noticed this too James. I personally decided to carry on alternating. I had worked so hard on alternation up to this point it seemed silly to ask my fingers to do anything else.James A. Showalter wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 3:43 pmJono/Chris,
There seems to be a regular occurrence of miss-sequenced alternations in the lessons. I think some may be errant while others may be meant to be that way. You are considering lesson-5 so to delve further into this let's look at Cano-Curriella, Leccion-1.
Consider the 1st and 2nd stanza. They are purely an alternating pattern with no detraction. Now look at the 3rd stanza, 1st 3 measures. They are sequenced as: [p-m-i-m] [p-m-i-m] [p-m-i-m]. Is there some kind of musical momentum that is achieved by repeating the measures in this fashion? How are they best played? And then the rest of the piece is not defined so artistic license is obviously granted.
Nothing much here just an observation.
Info on exam process from last year. It was hiding in the online guitar classes archive.
Just go to "Classical guitar lessons archive" there you can find exam discussions for every year. Looks like there is a new exam piece every year.
You're right Graham, it seems I'm playing those measures at half speed. I will try to make a new recording. I screwed up on Alouette and Cadet rouselle as well so I should give them another try too.Graham Gaya wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 7:55 pmGreat playing Staffan. On La Cucaracha, you seem to be holding the notes a little long so it makes it sound different on measure 2, 4, and 5. Compare it to the prof and you'll hear the difference.
Good effort Bill. I can see that you're struggling with La Cucaracha, but still a good effort.William Byrd wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 2:37 amHello Classmates,
Here are my submissions for the month. As usual, I had a nemesis this month in the form of La Cucaracha. I realize my tempo is off, but I think you will see by my reaction at the end of this particular take, I was satisfied with the effort. I won't bother to mention the number of previous attempts.
