Just a reminder to get your exam submission in on time. Don’t leave it too late in case of server/network problems and remember that the Spanish forum is currently on UTC+2 as it is daylight saving there.
This year a video is prefered although mp3 will be accepted, next year it will be video only for both lessons and exams.
Wishing you all the best in the exams
Hi Colin,
For those who are slow and first time (for me mainly)
Could you please to remind which lnk should I use for my D03 final exam video upload?

Thank you!!!

My practice run at the exam piece. This one is taking some time to play well, I am glad I've got a little more time yet for work on this.
Hi Tom,
I love your practice piece,
I love your poise and calm, that looks very goo on teh video, I will give you A+ for these.

My 5cents for playing (please disregard if you think differently). I would more accentuate the melody, may be even exadurate a little bit and teh same time try to keep the base notes more soft and more warm.
Thank you!
Olga

Hi, Tom, Ed, Mike and Olga.

I only finished D01 and D02 but many members told me to get into D04.
I will join D04 with you all in this September also.
I'm posting here my Nesta Rua to share with you and let you know I might be capable of learning D04 together.

Special congratulations to you for your exam result. You have made significant progress since D01 and it’s been worth the hard work.
Can I suggest that over the summer you work on smoothing the transitions between notes to make them flow more easily. It will mean holding the note longer and moving more quickly to the next. If you listen to your Nesta Rua you will notice it sounding a little staccato in places and you need to work on making it more legato.
Enjoy.

Colin

Until your message, I was pretty much in the mood of giving this up (Delcamp, not the guitar). Finishing "last in class" 3 years in a row is pretty discouraging. I actually thought I did OK with this exam (at least for me), but I guess not. I will give it some time and see how I feel.

Your comment on the legato is spot on, but knowing that is my problem and then figuring out the proper fix is difficult. I'll research the web and see if I can find any suggestions on an approach to fix this.

Thank you again for all of your support.

Ken -welcome to the group! Funny but In addition to D04, I am thinking of redoing D03 as I feel that I want to go back and learn the unassigned pieces. So, maybe we’ll both be there to encourage each other in D03 and D04!

Colin - thank you for your support this past year. I know we all appreciate you taking the time to help us.

I wonder if you could answer a question. Are we at liberty to use alternate left hand fingerings if we find something we like better, especially in some of the open string passages? I ask because as I was learning Nesta Rua, there were different fingerings that I would have liked to used, but feared to do so because I did not want to risk the diploma.

Colin - another question: what are the rules on how long it takes to post a recording for a lesson? I was super busy preparing for the exams, leaving little time for lesson 9. I am about to start the lesson but lesson 10 is about to start. Should I skip 9 now and focus on 10? Or can I count our 9 into June and also work on 10?

I don’t suppose it matters as the exams have past, but I also do not want to miss anything.

Ed,

Don’t give up Delcamp. Hey, if it was easy, everybody would be doing it. You should be proud of all that you have accomplished! I struggled along the way, but figured that the hard work would eventually pay off. The main thing to consider is - do you feel good about your progress? It is your journey, so don’t compare yourself to how others play. What’s important is how you feel about the music you are making.

We’ll have fun in D04!
