Hello everyone,

Here are some clarifications to the instructions and conditions for the online lessons and end-of-year exam:

Each student of the online lessons should post at least one message per week in the discussion threads of the lessons being followed. If no messages have been posted for 2 weeks, and no valid reason has been given (pressure of work, health problem, etc.), the student will be unregistered from the lessons.

New students should begin by participating in the first lesson of their chosen level, and then follow the remaining lessons in sequence, from the second to the tenth. A year of online lessons starts in September and ends in June. Once January has passed, it is too late to be able to follow the full year of online lessons from start to completion. Registrations to the Students group are open from September to January. Prospective students arriving after January can still usefully download the lessons and begin to work on them privately, so as to be ready to participate in the online lessons when they restart in September.

The courses are held in 4 languages: French, Italian, English and Spanish. Other languages are not accepted, owing to a lack of suitable forums.

Students may participate in the lessons of their choice on the forum of their choice, as long as they can express themselves well in the language of the forum in which they are participating. This will be judged by the moderators of the relevant forum, who can refuse a student who does not express himself in an understandable manner in the language of that forum. For example, if a French student wishes to follow the online lessons on the Italian forum, but cannot express himself correctly in Italian, he will be unregistered from the lessons by the moderators of the Italian forum.

Students are asked to submit a video for the end-of-year exam, rather than an MP3. This allows the judging panel to better assess the student's skills.
Only one recording will be allowed per candidate, and you have 3 days to post what you feel is your best. Any second or further entries will be systematically removed by the moderators.

Good luck for the exam!

Just watch the end of this topic from the beginning of September onwards, and you'll eventually see an announcement that registration is open.

Hi Cheryl. Welcome to the forum. With two posts you should have the access required to look at and follow, though not participate in, the past lessons. That may allow you to get a bit of a start before September. Good luck.

A bit of a change in the final exam again this year, whereas in prior years the exam piece was selected from one of the pieces in the lessons earlier in the year. Last year in D06 on the Spanish forum, the piece was new and unknown to all of us. As JFD said it was not real difficult, but still a challenge to perfect it in just one month.

I like the idea of promoting new composers. I don't have a problem paying for the music, though some may. On the French forum, moderators have said if there are problems getting the music for any reason, let them know.

A change too in the more stringent requirements to post every week. I must admit I haven't met this rule the past year. I hope this is applied going forward and not retroactively.

Good luck to everyone who has qualified ( or will) for the final. You've already accomplished a great deal. Good luck on the final! :war:

The lesson index and tracking list of students that have qualified for exams is now posted.

If you plan to participate in the up-coming exams, check the list to ensure your submissions have been credited, listings are updated periodically each week.

Inform the lesson moderators if an exam submission may have been ommited.
