My thanks, along with those of Jean-François, to Rick (Beauregard), for generously volunteering to be our very first student tutor.

Any other advanced students who meet the criteria and would also be interested in helping out would be most welcome.

:merci:

Can anyone tell me why this happened when I printed the score for exercise 1 on D01? All the half notes became a stick with a large arrow next to it. Printed from the pdf file on Windows 8.1

Hmmm. I had this problem once and I can’t remember what I did to fix it. All I can say is go into the windows print menu and try some options. It’s a windows thing.

Thanks Rick. I drew the note circles in myself. It just allows me to practice without turning on the PC (I haven't used the pc in ages!)
Also when do I get the subtitle 'Student of the online lessons' under my name, or do I simply put it in myself?

I’m not a mod Lar, so I can’t answer except to read and follow the instructions carefully. Send a message to the admin forum if you have site mechanics questions.

I think it is to do with font sets. I’ve had the problem with Explorer and off ipad.
I found that printing via firefox or even better the free Adobe pdf program (reader ?) gave me clean copy.

I had the same thing once. If I remember correctly, I think I found that the inbuilt Windows PDF viewer wasn't fully compatible with my printer (which was having to use a generic printer driver in the absence of a specific Windows 8.1 version), and that using the free Adobe reader instead fixed it.

Ok so as well as the lessons I've found a simple score of Ode to Joy, just using 2 strings. The bass is played on the bottom 3 strings, melody on the second and third. The question is is it okay to play the 6th string G with my 3rd finger and then use the 4th finger for the 2nd string D in the melody? I'm so stuck on 'correct' pima playing that I only play the bass strings with the thumb, the second finger (i) being reserved for the 3rd string, m for second string, a for second/first string.

Here is a (very rough) video of a first playing of the first 4 bars, just to establish difficulty level.
