What's the last concert you bought tickets to?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

Punch Brothers featuring mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile coming up in mid July. I wish I had read the following before purchase though and I might not have been hit with an unexpected A$60 booking fee if I had managed to find an alternative source for tickets (perhaps from the venue itself):

Viagogo was found guilty in the Federal Court today of making false or misleading representations and engaging in conduct liable to mislead the public. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) had accused the site of creating a “false sense of urgency” and giving the appearance it was an “official” seller. The ACCC and NSW Fair Trading had warned customers against buying tickets from the firm.

Cheers and a happy Easter break to all.

The last ticket I bought and the next concert I will see is the "Noche de la guitarra" event at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart next Saturday:

A recital by Slava Grigoryan and his wife Sharon (on cello) last Saturday and absolutely loved it. The recital was held in a early 19th Century house which has a ball room that can seat about 80 guests. The tickets cost about US$50 and you get a glass of champagne and some nibbles on arrival, a coffee and cake at interval and a thoroughly enjoyable evening all round. I also had the privilege of speaking briefly with the performers after the recital. I saw Xufei Yang perform there a couple of years ago.

Berta Rojas, and listened in on her master class. What an amazing guitarist and generous teacher! Was a real treat.

"Seldom Scene" at Liberty Theater in Burlington, NC, on Nov. 16th.
We've seen them there two or three times now. The Liberty Theater is an old refurbished movie theater, in a small town that was once probably quite prosperous, but the interstate went somewhere else, and so did prosperity. Now the little town has one restaurant, three or four antique shops, and a theater. The owners of the theater also own a music store, and bring in some well known musicians.....mostly country music. "Seldom Scene" is one of my favorite bluegrass bands.

Have fun! She's an exceptional musician and player (and not unpleasing to the eyes either ;))

Last concert I paid tickets for was a concert by Doug Macleod in October last year, which turned out to be a fantastic experience, almost a private concert (totally unplugged and all). Some official footage of that event:
Gretsch G9240 "Alligator" wood-body resonator converted to non-metal strings (China, 2018?)
Bolink baroque violin (Hilversum, 1982)
Formerly: Brian Cohen baroque violin (London, 1985), Nadegini modern violin (Paris, 1924)

I just bought two season passes for the concert series at Community Church, in Chapel Hill, NC.
The tickets are for four concerts, "Blue Highway," in November, "The Kruger Brothers," in December, "The Barefoot Movement," in January, and, 'The Becky Buller Band," in February. All four bands are bluegrass bands. I never thought I'd see the day when bluegrass would be so popular in Chapel Hill !!!??? ....I mean, we're talking about the town that James Taylor came from. .....button up oxford shirts and khaki pants, with loafers and no socks kind of town. :)

I just purchased two tickets to the NC Symphony's Summer Picnic Series, which includes a buffet dinner at the NC History Center and then a concert by the symphony on the south lawn of Tryon Palace in New Bern, on June 18th. The purpose of the dinner and concert is to support their music education program in Craven County.

The North Carolina Symphony New Bern Series for 2019 & 2020.
Oct. 4 "Enigma Variations"
Mar. 26 "Beethoven's Symphony No. 7"
May 3 "Beethoven's 9th"

In previous seasons, the concerts were held at the New Bern Convention Center, but it flooded in September, and they haven't finished repairing it yet. The last three concerts have been held in Temple Church, which, in my opinion, is a better place to listen to concerts than was the convention center. The acoustics are better, the seats are softer, and they have a coffee house with excellent cookies.
