hotdog eating contests - Why?

Post by soltirefa » Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:31 pm

I don't understand why anybody would ever participate in or take pride in winning a hotdog eating contest. I just read that the record is 74. What?!!!

It is not hilarious...it is totally disgusting. Competitive eating has absolutely NO redeeming value. Whoever came up with this idea of public gluttony and food waste should be ...... ?

I think the contest is in the U.S. but haven't many champions been from Japan? Those guys/gals know how to EAT! Lol

I think it is totally disgusting. It is not limited to the US however. Many of the champions are from Japan. I think it is obscene.

I will say though that when I was in middle school I won a t-shirt in a Mello Yello chugging contest. I don't remember how much I drank. Or how I managed to get to sleep that night.

I'm sure it is a proof of intelligence, like boxing, car racing, rodeo, bullfight, mud catching and lots more. You cannot dig it, if your IQ is below a certain level. BTW: I'm not a native speaker, I sometimes mix up some words, like "up" and "down" etc.
