Strings for really small guitar

Post by dan5001 » Sat Jul 13, 2019 8:00 pm

Can you put regular strings on quarter size guitars? My neighbour just bought one for her son and the e string promptly broke.... I wasn't sure if I would damage it if I put on a regular string.
Thanks 🙂

Hello,

The Hannabach "MT" series offer strings set specially designed for 1/8, 1/4, 3/4 ad 7/8. They sound and feel quite well, although they don't last very long. La Bella makes also special sets for all kind of fractional guitar, but I've never tried them — they are almost twice cheaper than Hannabach.

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

Thanks I was really just wondering if I could use my spare e string. I reckon a full set of strings would cost more than the guitar....

Regular strings will be under less tension with a shorter scale.

Why and where did the string break? Look for a sharp edge that corresponds to the area of the break.
