Health tip of the day...

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

Health tip of the day...

Post by David Gutowski » Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:39 am

"Oh my God! Do not panic!! We have to keep living (thanks Elisco)." But are we living healthy? My health tip of the day is: get plenty of rest, don't worry and complain about everything and try to be optimistic.

What's important to you concerning good health? Any suggestions? :reflechir:

It takes fewer muscles to shake your cane at children than to physically chase them off your lawn.

It seems like many of the health practices we thought were rock solid are being disproved. One thing that is still very true is exercise. The saying now is, "You age like you exercise." The old joke among us health care professionals is that climbing stairs adds an equivalent amount of time to your life span, so as long as your are climbing stairs ....

I'm going to assume I'll be hanging around on Planet Earth for a while longer only because it is counterproductive to worry about what MIGHT happen. I'm just going to do what makes me happy. And exercise, because that maintains the quality of life and mobility however long I'm roaming the planet. :D

I was going to say 'everything in moderation' but Molbarre beat me to it.
Well, moderation in everything except guitar playing!! :D

Actually, that needs moderation too. No use in playing all day, non-stop and then wondering why you fingers/arm/shoulder etc are worn out or numb!

On a more serious note, health tips are usually relevant to things we (most people) don't do enough of. But if you do them already then they aren't relevant.
e.g. Drink 2 litres approx per day but if you do it already then it's not relevant.

But in this age of office and computer work, exercising and standing up more is quite relevant.
Also, weight training, and I think body-weight counts as well (e.g. squats/press-ups), is useful to keep us fit into old age because it strengthens our joints and bones.
I've read that our bones weaken as we age so this kind of exercise is apparently good and shouldn't be neglected.
But this just echos others comments regarding exercise
"Music washes away the dust of every day life." Art Blakey

"If I don’t practice for a day, I know it. If I don’t practice for two days, the critics know it. And if I don’t practice for three days, the public knows it." Louis Armstrong

Eat more soup with your meals.

Just the other day, my neighbor brought over three huge bags of frozen restaurant grade French Onion soup. His girlfriend got it from a turned over semi truck; they were giving it away. And it's delicious, I think it helps with digesting meals. I tried to trade him my new computer for another bag but he wasn't interested...said he couldn't pronounce the ladies name that lives in my computer. I said don't worry, ask her to tell you a joke! :ivresse:

I got a good laugh over that. So true! Also, don't look at Google Images of disease-related things. As an example, you look up a skin condition and see pictures of things people have had that are unbelievable.
