Cannot believe it, won a prize today!

OK, no price...
But I think you're a bit to modest, Rutger. You got one point less than the winner of the second price and were categorized by the jury as "very good".
Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone!
@Eric, yes now that I understand the final results better it is indeed clear that I was quite close to winning the second prize.
And yes I am very happy with receiving the 'very good' classification.
I got the opportunity to play for some fantastic guitarists, played for a larger-then-usual audience, and I am really happy with that.
Cheers Rutger

Today, at the age of 42, I won the 2nd prize in the first round of the EGTA amateur guitarist competition in the Netherlands.
I was awarded a score of 8.7 out of 10, playing Brouwer's El Decameron Negro part 1 and Kruisbrink's Bagatelle 2 (required piece). I never expected this because I made some silly mistakes because of a trembling left hand combined with a fake nail on the a finger.

My teacher deserves a HUGE "thank you" for this!

I witnessed the performance of today's winner and he was amazing, way out of my league. He played a fantastic Villa-Lobos and J.S. Bach.
This 2nd price gives me a ticket to the finale and I am so happy with the opportunity to play for a 'large' audience.
Ok, these were my 5 minutes of fame,
Cheers!
Last Saturday I won the 2nd prize in the first round of the EGTA competition again.
This time I was awarded 20.6 out of 25 points, and I am very happy with the result and the progress I seem to have made over the last two years.

I played:

De Falla - Homenaje
Merlin - Evocacion
Walton - Bagatelle 3 Alla Cubana

Like 2 years ago, the winner of the first round was amazing.

Many congratulations! Does this get you through to the finale this year, too? If so, very best of luck!

Congratulations Kloeten!

You are now a source of inspiration for many of us amateur guitarists!

Hopefully I´ll be able to walk in your footsteps in a few years time (I am also 42, back to guitar since a few months). Having the opportunity to play live in an amateur competition is a very exiting perspective.
