I recognise that some classical guitarists see tab entirely negatively, and point-blank refuse to read it. But if it was good enough for the likes of John Dowland, Weiss, etc, then can't be all bad.
Thanks for the explanation. It's not that I see it negatively, but I learned to play from notation for classical stuff, and by ear for other things, I never learned tab, and now I'm too old and set in my ways. I made a couple of attempts at french and italian lute tablature in the past but never got fluent.
