Re: Bach & - Brouwer ~ New Solo Album

Post by David.Smyth » Sat Jun 04, 2011 11:44 pm

Hi Matthew,

I received your CD recently and have been playing it in my car since. Am really enjoying it and I find the counterpoint between Bach and Brouwer really interesting and exciting.

Many thanks,

Do the two of you perform any of the Giuliani duets?

Regards,
Cary
We actually haven't performed the Giuliani duets, we get so much new music sent to us that working our way through it takes up much of our time! We do play through them for fun though!!

Post by Matthew McAllister » Mon Jun 20, 2011 11:49 am

Hi folks,

Just a mention that my channel hit a 1000 Subscribers and over 300,000 video views a few days ago!

It has a huge collection of videos from live concerts all over the world, tour videos, interviews, chamber music, CGR videos, students and other artists which includes performances from David Russell, Allan Neave, Amanda Cook and more... It is worth a visit and I update it regularly.

I never imagined in a few years it would attract the interest it has, if you are a viewer or subscriber thank you for your support and if you have never been over to my channel before I hope you take the time to have a look!

Here it is http://www.youtube.com/nsrmcallister

Best wishes,

I ran into your Sarabande by Poulenc on YT the other day and just want to say how much i enjoyed your interpretation! Not many people play this piece, eventhough the composer is mega-famous.

I mentioned it and posted a link to you playing it here:

Thanks you very much, I am glad you like the Poulenc piece, it is a little gem! Thanks for mentioning it elsewhere in the forum and I hope you have some time to explore some of the other interesting repertoire choices that feature on my channel.

Best wishes,

Matthew

What music are you listening to?

Post by Matthew McAllister » Tue Jun 28, 2011 2:10 pm

Hi folks,

Just received an email from BBC Music Magazine they want to know what you are listening to.

What music are you listening to?
Here at BBC Music Magazinewe’re immersed in the music of JS Bach in anticipation of our August issue – on sale 6 July. We’ll be looking back at the life and work of Glenn Gould, a renowned interpreter of Bach’s music. And there’s Bach on our August cover disc as well, with pianist Freddy Kempf performing the Goldberg Variations. But in the meantime we want to know what you're listening to. Whether it’s a live concert, an opera or a recording that you think shouldn’t be missed, send us an email to let us know and your choice could appear in the magazine.
Oliver Condy, editor, BBC Music Magazine

Here is the link to where you can email. With their recent focus on Bach a shout out for my latest album Bach & Bouwer would be apt, lets get some serious guitar playing in the magazine!

Hope you take the time to give my recent recording a vote!

Video Blog II (Switzerland)

Post by Matthew McAllister » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:35 am

Hi folks,

Well it took me a bit longer to get my latest Video Blog completed than I had first expected but at last here it is!

After a fantastic experience at a festival in Switzerland last week I knew much of the material from my trip would be ideal for my next Video Blog offering.

Hope you enjoy & thank you for taking the time to watch and listen!

Thanks for posting. The video is great, your playing warm and sensitive as usual, and what an enthousiastic audience for such a small venue. Very interesting.
