Carulli solo pieces sought. Please help.

Post by Blake » Tue Jul 30, 2013 3:38 pm

When I first came across Carulli piece some forty years ago, I was not impressed. They were simple and formulaic. Go up in thirds, come back down in sixths, do it again playing an open G string in between and etc. Since then I have found many interesting pieces by Carulli and I am intrigued and would love to find more. This forum has a large number posted and I have obtained others from libraries or bought new engravings. I have made a list of pieces that I have not found or have no information about other than titles from a catalog which I combined with the list in this forum under Carulli. I have limited my list to solo pieces because it is already 117 opus numbers. I would be very grateful to anyone who could shed some light on these missing pieces. Here's my list and I hope to hear back from someone:

I have found it in the Bibliotheque National De France (bnf.fr)
Unfortunately it is not digitized, but you can order a scanned copy for 0,7€/page :D

You definetely have to try the opus 331: Les trois jours: pièce analogue aux événemens de trois mémorables journées 27, 28 et 29. juillet 1830: composée pour la guitare / par Ferd. Carulli
http://www2.kb.dk/elib/noder/rischel/RiBS0126.pdf

Best practice for diminished chords ever :)

I'm also a great fun of Ferdinando Carulli. I've found some interesting pieces - historical and political mostly - but couldn't find a lot of other pieces. Could you, please be so kind to mail all of these pieces to me? I've sent you a PM.

I'm mostly interested in Op. 33 (Napoleon il Grande, sonate sentimentale).

Hi my name is Wes. I am brand new at this so don't really know how to contact people. I would like to request the Carulli opus 21 1-3 guitar sonatas? The one a am mostly interested in right now is number 3 part 2 Romance andante sustenudo. It would be greatly appreciated. Also please let me know if I am going about this incorrectly.

Trois Sonate Op. 21, ca. 1811
Trois Sonatine Op. 23, ca. 1811
Trois Ouvertures Op. 28, ca. 1810

Op. 6 you can find on another forum:
mod edit: direct link to copyright material removed

They also have Op. 23 but note that it's violin plus guitar, not just solo guitar. I think I've seen this one anyway on another site somewhere.

A few things posted there are legit facsimiles but a lot of the scores they have on that thread seem to be scans of Ruggero Chiesa editions or similar, which may still be under copyright though there may not be a legit way to obtain them.

Apologies if this link is out of bounds somehow!

Since I'm sure that your link will be removed, here's the direct link for op.6 : https://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/d ... 00005.html
(from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek)

Andy, if you email me directly I will happily send you a copy of Op.23.

Op.21 - the only copy that I know of is held in the Library of Congress. This collection has not been digitised and there is no sign of that happening any time soon, however ... it is possible to take photo-copies. You need a contact in Washington that's all.

I have not found an original of Op.28.
