My neck gets sore after a while from turning to watch my left hand. If I'm playing something that's tricky fret-wise, I always have to watch and then it hurts when I turn my neck the other direction (snap crackle pop!). Ouch! But that's been going on for years so I sort of expect it.

I also agree this would be a good Idea as a section of this forum. I am an emergency physician and have played classical guitar for years as an adult. I have many questions myself and have asked hand specialists who, if their not stringed instramentalists, haven't really seen the specific problems.

I'd be very intersted to see your book when your finshed, cn90.

I think a health forum that is a smashing idea!!!
Many players are concerned with health issues related or not to playing, as myself.
I can definately share with you right now that when I stay on top of my health game, the playing factor betters tenfold.
(I just got back from jogging, ate a healthy breakfast, meditated and now I can start practising effectively!)

Of course Delcamp.net will have to put a disclaimer that claims no responsibility for any misleading/wrongful info.
The input of a certified member/doctor would also be welcome!!!

Always with love,
Bernard

There is a precedent on the French forum already, namely a subforum within their equivalent of our Public Space forum, called "Douleurs, nos grands et petits bobos, positions et ergonomie" which I think means (very roughly) something like "Aches and pains, our major and minor sorenesses, playing positions (posture?) and ergonomics", so I expect M. Delcamp would be happy to have a parallel subforum here (though a more elegant translation would be useful!)

Hi Bernard,
I lived in Montreal for 10 years and know Magog, Quebec very well....

The subforum should be called "MEDICAL CLINIC".

Bernard, you are doing something that many musicians fail to do: good eating habit, exercising (jogging, swimming, and stay away from sports that can damage the hands like volleyball, basketball, boxing), meditation.
So great job doing jogging etc. Keep it up.

A healthy mind/body + great technique = beautiful music playing.

many times musicians focus so much on techniques that they fail to go jogging or swimming etc.

Well, maybe it's time for a moderator or two to kindly approach Mr. Delcamp with the request.
Yoo-hoo.....! Which of you mods speak French?
