LH Pinky gets " -stuck" -

Post by dmbruenjes » Mon May 11, 2009 11:13 am

After practicing for a while, I notice that after an hour or so my pink on the left hand does a strange thing. When I move it into my palm, at a certain point it 'jumps' down to my palm. It almost feels like it's getting stuck. Anyone ever experience this? Is it bad?

I think that's called trigger finger and is related to tendonitis. Maybe you're practicing too long without a break?

That is definitely trigger finger! Important: You need to see a hand specialist Dr. as soon as possible! I had the same thing about 3 years ago, and one of my friends had it before that. We both wound up needing surgery, but it's minor surgery. The usual course of treatment is to get 2-3 cortisone injections into the base of the finger, about one month apart (these burn terribly). If that doesn't help, the Dr. will recommend surgery to release the tendon. It was very scary for me, I worried about being able to play. But, after a recovery period and regular pinky exercises (relaxed slurs), everything's fine now. The sooner you see the Dr., the better.

As Gminor7 just said you need to visit a doctor
a trigger finger may be a sign of diabetes along other things ,of course it's sign of inflammation in the tendon but the cause of the inflammation may be so many things

Go see a Doctor!!
