Tárrega, Francisco - Prelude in F# Minor A=390Hz

Post by tateharmann » Fri Jun 22, 2018 1:36 pm

I had recorded this one before here: viewtopic.php?f=83&t=116168

But this previous recording was done at A=415Hz (half a step down from standard) as are most of my recordings on gut strings. These gut strings just felt so heavy and thick under my fingers that I decided to tune down another half step to A=390Hz. Immediately the guitar seemed to open up a bit more - there was even proof on the Tascam Recorder...I had to set the input levels down because where it was previously set to record this guitar was now causing clipping :)

Which sound do you all prefer? I prefer playing this piece with less tension as it's mostly in the 2nd position being in F# minor..
