Great playing Lucy. Just some note for improvement, try to bring out the bass more, keep up the good work.
Thank you for your comments Rob.
100% agree with that. It was certainly my intention to make more of the bass line, but it's just how it panned out that day. I played it again, on the second day of the event and the bass line was more prominent that time. However, I chose to upload this version because it had qualities that, as a whole, made it a better overall performance.
I want to get to the point where I can achieve what I'd like in public performance, practically all the time. Of course, there will be exceptions!!
Actually, there's another thing about the bass line. I didn't always hold the crotchet for exactly the right length. (ie. crotchet + quaver rest).
There are a couple of places where that's not possible, because I have to move my left hand and also, I've no intention of stopping the Ds in the first 3 bars, (and subsequent occurances of this music in different guises), because I want to imitate the ringing bass notes of a lute. It's my view that in all the other bars, there is much more forward movement in melody line, so it actually sounds quite good to "play" the quaver rests.
Just my thoughts on the matter!
