Hi Lucian,
My angle is not that great either. I use my iphone6 to do my video recordings(it's easy to upload to YouTube). I may using a real camera for a better view in the future. I may go over exercise 21. It has a lot of dampening's in it.

Thanks
Roger

Hi Roger,

It seems to me that you have a little problem of rightness of tempo--me too, as well:) ; try to keep notes to their correct length (ie the three notes DO / C , they are double in duration then the others) in the first exercise. Then, in the second exercise (no 20) try to keep all fingers of the right hand on the appropriate strings for all the duration of the exercise. the same problem of rightness of tempo in Une souris verte but other than that sound good to me. keep up the good work :bravo:

I use my phone too and I try to do my best with it for the moment.
Good dampening to you! :)

Hi Lucian,
Thanks for the review. I will try to get use to a metronome, it drives me crazy. But I guess it will really help with timing.

You are welcome Roger! I should use the metronome more often, me too.

Here is my Last Video :

I finally understand how to dampen a string. Just like a bar chord. Now I have to get my timing right.

Georgi Chernishov wrote:Friends,

I need your help. I could not understand how to damp the notes in the very first exercise. I read the instructions but my Englisd might not be good enough to understand it correctly. I watched the video with different speeds but could not see any damping at all.
Hi Georgi, I just figured it out. The String that needs to be damped is generally an open String. So for example, if you play the B String( 2nd string opened) and the next string is the A (third string second fret) use your second (middle finger) on the left hand to fret both strings, After playing the open B String. While fretting both strings play only the A.
I hope this helps.

Georgi you are close to what you need to do. But when you play the note on the 3rd string you touch the 2nd string with the same finger in the same moment. And you repeat that technique with cords 4th-3rd and 5th-4th, all this in the second part of the first exercise.
Hope this helps,
Lucian

P.s. it's like a barré but it's not, you don't need to press all the way down the 2nd string when you play the 3rd
Hi Lucian,
I have just started working on the C scale and I watched your video on the C Scale lesson, good job. but I did not notice you dampening the strings coming back down from the high C string. I found it difficult trying to keep up with the beat of the 8th notes and dampening at the same time. Is there a method to it ?
Thanks Roger
Hi Roger,
I'm under impression that I did the dampening correctly, maybe the angle of the video isn't the best. However, I may be wrong so we can ask one of the moderators of the forum to, please, help us with this exercise.

About the method, I bet there are a few out there. I try to do what is recommended, working slower at the beggining with a metronome or counting but I have to admit that I don't use all the time the recommendations. :)
Thanks for watching,
Lucian

Hi Lucian ,
I just finished my final Lesson. I understand the damping. Just need to work on my timing. Where do we good after finishing this lesson?

that's a good thing, Roger; first we need to understand what is to be done and then we need to repeat, repeat and repeat :)

Rodaan,
Now, after beeing able to see your videos, I can tell that you worked a little bit. Generally the sound is good, some little problems of timing here and there (as normal at this stage, I think). And your 'J'ai du bon tabac' not bad at all. Keep up the good work.
