Hi. I've been playing since the 1960s. I have medium sized hands/fingers. I have always played full size guitars.. Today I play a 650 Cordoba C10 . As of about a month and a half now I've had constant pain somewhere between my knuckle and next joint of my LH 4..There are a number of stretches in our repertoire which have been difficult for me, yet I've manged to make them over the many many years.
Welp, now at 71 I have this new problem. Yet I still play 2-4 hours every day. It's not enough pain to prohibit playing. There is no arthritis in my family.
Those who have/had this, please tell me your experience, exercises, remedies. There's no prob in other fingers...Thanks, Mark
I've been having trouble with arthritis for several years, now at age 57. Fortunately it hasn't affected my hands. Due to earlier joint injuries in life I'm beginning to have some trouble with osteoarthritis, a whole different ball of wax compared to rheumatoid which is an autoimmune disease. Have you ever had psoriasis? That can cause psoriatic arthritis later in life with pain and inflammation in the hands and feet IIRC.
I use 'Deep Blue Polyphenol Complex'. Pricey but it works the billy be damned. I have arthritis in my right ankle and when it flares up I can't walk without a cane or crutches. It comes in oral tablets, and topical gel - I use both - it's not over the counter, at least here, which is convenient. If you can't find it locally then Amazon has it...

I'd at least give it a go. Nothing to lose. Good luck!
