Just gotten myself another Japanese guitar, Ryoji Matsuoka M20 come with solid Cedar top. No series # and year written on the label, but a date code stamped on inner neck heel indicate 1978 made. Lightly build with fine thin coating without any thickening residual left on edges or tricky corners.
Check through the net saw few listed Ryoji Matsuoka guitar labeled Model No.20 sell as M20 I think there is confusion between models. I also not sure how many variations of M20 out there, but mine is clearly not laminated top but solid top (However, after much careful inspection again, the M20 is actually laminated instead of solid. .
Previous owner bought this M20 based on his guitar instructor recommendation and marked date of purchase on the soft black bag indicate 7th July 1980. By touching, it has simple 5 fans brace. The guitar, to me, is lively, nice and can sing out clear voice even plucked very softly. Sweet
