GB £.4000 James Lister spruce 2015, Sheffield

Post by James Lister » Tue Jun 20, 2017 6:47 pm

- Type / luthier: Classical/James Lister
- Scale length (mm) 650
- Top: Spruce
- Back / Sides: Flamed maple
- Fingerboard / (bridge): Bog oak fingerboard/walnut bridge
- Sound: Traditional
- Condition: Excellent
- Price: £4,000
- Viewing / trial possible: 1 week approval period
- Location (nearest city): Sheffield, UK

This is my 100th guitar, which has been on loan to Marcin Dylla for the last 15 months. Shortly after I delivered the guitar to Marcin, he came across another maple guitar that he liked even more (Gabriele Lodi), so he didn't end up playing my guitar as much as we had expected, but I did hear him play it in concert a few months ago at the Cordefactum Festival in Belgium.

The guitar is in very good condition, with no marks in the finish. The polish on the top has sunk slightly into the grain, but it's not a problem. If anyone was worried about it I'd be prepared to re-polish the top.

My original aim for this guitar was to make it using no tropical hardwoods, and all FSC certified, but I was only able to obtain FSC woods for the top, back and sides. The rosette was designed specifically for this guitar, and I now offer it only on guitars I build using non-tropical hardwoods. There's a thread in the luthier's forum describing the process of making the rosette, and showing some parts of the rest of the build. http://www.classicalguitardelcamp.com/v ... 11&t=94937

The tuners are Rodgers with black horn buttons.

I've listed this guitar for sale on my website at £4,200 - so Delcamp members are being offered a small discount. :)

I don't think there is an issue with temptation, James.

Gorgeous!

Unfortunately, I've checked with the other half and selling the kids isn't an option. ;)

Cheers,

Matt.

Mine is a 2016 and almost identical in woods, design and appearance. Beautiful craftsmanship and sound and excellent playability. It remains my pride and joy. :guitare: James is a great guy to do business with too.

Good luck with the sale James.

If only I could afford this...Sure it won't be around for long with Jame's reputation and the endorsement by Marcin.

I recall being struck by the beauty of your guitar, Pat, and this one is its enviable equal. Best wishes for the sale, James.

Best regards,

I bought this guitar last week and am incredibly happy with her. The sound is simply beautiful and the aesthetics are equally wonderful. The trebles are pure and warm and she resonates between and F and F# so there is plenty of depth to her voice without becoming unbalanced as I have felt occurs with many guitars that resonate lower. I am amazed this guitar took so long to sell - i can only think it must have been because she was made of maple which can put people off unfortunately - I challenge them to try a maple guitar! (I understand I may be slightly bias)

James is a great guy to do business with. During the 3 hours I spent with him I felt absolutely no to buy. All my questions were answered fully and honestly.

Thankyou James for making such a beautiful instrument which must have been difficult to part with. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him as a luthier. The value for money is extreamly good as the guitars compare to those that are 2 or 3 thousand more.

Joe,

Congratulations to you and James. I have looked at the pictures a few times, it is a very nice looking guitar. I hope you enjoy the guitar for a long time.
