Yes, I wanted to keep the default fingering styles and leave them "intact", simply adding my new style preference to the list of choices. I think I understood at the time that I could have done it the way you suggest, but chose not to
Ok, understood.

In 3.0, that option seems to have been removed, so I'm trying to understand what the program would rather have me do.

I'll try to relax...
Yes, please, keep relax. I believe the best advice, for now - at least for those who use a lot of fingerings - is to wait a bit, and by continuing temporarily with 2.3.2.
There are corrections in progress, and I think the first and next update (this month, or if not next month, nothing announced at the moment) will already see a favorable evolution. I will pass the information when the time comes.

1) If you are a MuseScore user: importing Guitar Pro files is supported, and works well (.gp3,.gp4,.gp5, and .gpx (=gp6) files)

Not yet.gp (Guitar Pro 7). Nevertheless, from Guitar Pro 7, you can export in .gpx (or .gp5, try which works finest, may depend of the file), and so, MuseScore will can read these files.

2) If you are a Guitar Pro user: this program does not support the import of MuseScore files. But, in this case, you can still do it, using the MusicXML format.

For the record, and to complete the first one, see another presentation of the new features of MuseScore.

Marc Sabatella just forgot to mention the Implode/Explode features. It is true that these are not new, but the improvement is so remarkable that it is almost a new and great feature! :)

I noticed the fingering style options are there again, but now I'm finding that saving styles forgets the x/y offsets when you load it in a new session. I'll keep checking 3's progress but will stick with version 2 for a bit .

That's right. The choice of a custom style (User1, 2, etc.) has been restored.

As for the rest, there is still work in progress, but I think that for the next update, in a few weeks, all this sould be solved.

I have it and am very happy with it. Am giving up on Sibelius First since it can'd produce a score for the low E tuned to a D. I wrote to the company and they said they have no plans to fix this. Suggested I spend another $300 for Sibelius Ultimate.

I now have version 3.01 and so far I like it very much. It is capable of 6 string guitar music scores where the low E is tuned down to a D. Also have Sibelius First that cannon do this. David (S.F. makers) said that they had no intention of adding this capability. To get it they recommend buying Sibelius Ultimate for $300 +.

Wow, fingering options are really improved! I'm still confused by the custom text styles (trying to recreate what I had in Musescore 2 still). Is it normal that the X/Y aren't remembered when saving styles? I set them, save, and when I exit and reopen a score, load that style... <POOF> X/Y go back to zero.

It feels like a bug, or I just don't understand how or what these settings are used for if they aren't remembered.

How often can we get almost instant feedback from stuff online? Following this thread has been an eye opener !!! Sibelius would come round your house and remove all your instruments !!!

Undesired of course. I'll make the report. Thanks to have pointing this.

Indeed.
And I even think you haven't tried the new fingering input mode yet, included in this 3.0.2, without any double-clicking (only via the keyboard, and by moving forward with the space bar, as for lyrics).
But here too, however, not everything is fully developed, here in a multi-voice context. But when all this is resolved and improved, it will be really the day and night between the old method (double-click) and the new one (keyboard and navigation with the space bar, and Shift + space bar for the return). So, stay tuned!

Yeah, they're "scoring" a bunch of points with me just by their responses and updates. Really cool.
