For any Delcampers in the Intermountain West region:

Utah Classical Guitar Festival
Friday Aug 09
Saturday August 10
Workshops/Masterclasses: Sorenson Unity Center
Concerts: Eccles Black Box Theater

http://www.ucgs.org/festival-2019.html

Headliners are Jon Paul Yerby (Friday concert) and Gabino Flores (Saturday concert). The UCG Festival Student Orchestra will also participate in the Saturday night concert.

On Saturday afternoon at 3.30, I am doing a workshop/lecture/mini-concert on the life and music of John W Duarte, in observation of his centenary year.

Congratulations David.
John Duarte is my favorite composer for classical guitar. I am eternally working on his compositions.
Looks like an interesting Saturday afternoon.

Looks like you'll be playing a lot of pieces for a mini-concert.

I don't remember your mentioning having a Ramirez guitar. I must have missed that. Is that a 660mm?

Me, with a 660? Perish the thought, good sir!! This is a 650, bad enough when I am accustomed to 640 now, but oh my what a rich sound this one has developed.

The music part of the presentation totals around 24-25 minutes, hence "mini-concert". The music is preceded with a Death By PowerPoint deck on JWD's life and career, which runs about 14 minutes.

I did this in Reno two weeks ago at the Sierra Nevada CG Festival, it seemed to be well received. Or at least they had the good manners not to scoff and chortle to my face! :)
