Pachelbel, Canon in D arrangement with tremolo

Post by Tremeggio » Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:19 pm

This my own arrangement of Pachelbels Canon in D. It has some tremolo sections.
If anyone is interested I might write it out.

I recorded this with a matched pair of RODE NT5s in an ORTF configuration

Was it a "special experiment"? Or did you have a "musicological concept" for it? It sounds nice, but with ears trained in historical playing for 40+ years it is surprising. Of course, in Pachelbel's era (nearly) everything was possible:.-)

The last iteration seems to be an interesting compromis between the problem of short sustain of CG, contemporary listening and the original. For me it will be suitable to start with longer tones and to shorten them until you will reach the tremolo. Or vice versa? Don't know...

Very nice. I've been looking for a good arrangement. So far, the best electronic score I could find was from here:

However, the tremolo sounds nicer.
