Burgmüller, Friedrich - 3 Nocturnes for Cello and Guitar WoO

Post by Rui Namora » Thu Oct 10, 2019 2:39 pm

Friedrich Burgmüller (1806-1874), German pianist and composer is the author of one of the handful of 19th century original compositions for cello and guitar, the Trois Nocturnes pour Violoncelle et Guitare dedicated to the Viscount Gabriel Molitor. This set nocturnes was extensively adapted for melodic instrument (flute, violin) and piano. British editions were published under the subtitle "Les Murmurs de la Rhone".

This is a (home-made) recording of a rehearsal.

Sounds fantastic.

I was going to send my niece (cello player) a link to this thread so she could listen, but she's not a member of this forum, so the files are not accessible. Maybe consider putting the audio together with a nice picture and posting a YouTube video of this.

Nice work, it's very pretty.

Very good! :bravo:
It sounds great.

I also played the first 2 pieces already in concerts but with a viola as counterpart.
They are very nice and go down well.
There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of a guitar - maybe aside from that of two guitars (Frederic Chopin)
