Carulli, Ferdinando - op.241/05 Andantino

Post by Elijah » Fri Jul 11, 2008 6:59 am

Hi Delcampers
xcal wrote:I'm a big fan of Ferdinando Carulli also. There's another Carulli tune in the same vein you might want to try. In a book I have, it's listed as Andantino, Op. 241, No. 5
Here is this Andantino.
Any comments please.

Thank you Owl for listening and the comment :merci:

This piece is from Lesson 8 of the Noad book.
Now I'm in Lesson 9 and lesson 10. But there are only exercises in these lessons, no pieces.
Any recommendations please?
Thank you.

Hello Elijah,

Well done! This is one of the first pieces I could play (and I still play it sometimes).

If you are looking for something to have a go at while working through the next chapters of Noad, have a look at the forum's Level 3 collection. Jean-François Delcamp had included some lovely Carulli valses from page 38 onwards,

All the best, V :) :merci:

Thank you very much Vesuvio for listening and the advice. :merci:

Yes, I am already looking through this collection to select a piece that matches to the techniques introduced in those lessons.

Yes... Vesuvio's suggestion is a good one... there are some lovely pieces in there.
I certainly don't want to push you, but listening to you play I think you are ready for something a little more challenging.

Very nice job Elijah and well executed. It's easy to see that you put a lot of work into your efforts and it shows. Keep them coming. :bravo:

Thank you Owl and Simplicio! :merci:

I have looked through the 3-level collection of scores.
It seems Gavotte by Johan Kaspar Fisher (page 33) is a suitable piece for lessons 9 and 10. 3-note chords, 2 voices. Isn't it?

Yes, but I am still very far from your Coral Dawn. :)

:bravo: Elijah. Your progress is amazing, all the more so for someone doing it on their own.

I agree with Owl about your being able to tackle some more challenging pieces but then its this piece ahead of Lesson 10 in the book? I don't remember this piece being my version of the book.

I remember when I was going through book 1, I developed SAS (Score Accumulation Syndrome), the Best of Bach, the Best of Carulli,Sor, etc. I couldn't walk into a music store without finding something I "needed" to have. So my time was split between carrying on with the Noad course and trying to play some of the new pieces to hear what they sounded like ( no Utube in those days). It really helped/forced my sight reading skills and I think made the course material easier.

The material available here at Delcamp is great because its graded.

Carry on Elijah. Its nice to see you're doing so well.

Nowadays, it is much easier. Delcamp, YouTube, Archives of free guitar scores... Literally 2 hours ago, I downloaded 2 volumes of scores by Giuliani :D
