Weiss, S. L. - Trio in A Major - Video

Post by kidneykutter » Sun Aug 16, 2009 12:49 am

From the newly discovered Harrach Ms, this is the first complete trio found by Weiss. It's just the solo Baroque Lute part with violin/flute and bass part added but this still qualifies as a world premiere! Sorry about the recording conditions; why does every venue seem to have bright lights behind the performers? Performed by Daniel Shoskes (Baroque Lute), Dennis Sadzewicz (Baroque Flute) and Valentin Ustinov (Viola da Gamba) in Seville OH.

Hi Daniel,

My thanks you to you and your friends for this trio. I'm sure Weiss would approve,

Best wishes, V :) :merci:

:merci: for this and the Weiss 'Ciacona' (in a more reverberant acoustic) linked by You Tube - have the Harrach ms. scores been published as I recently met a gamba player and flute/violin are usually available?

It is not published but a pdf version has mysteriously circulated in the dark recesses of the interwebs. A message to dshoskes at mac dot com may make it suddenly appear!

Remarkable! Are you reading from tablature or have you transcribed it to modern notation?
Either way its an extraordinary effort! Congratulations! :bravo: :merci:

The lute part is in baroque tablature and the other 2 instruments are in modern notation (in the facsimile).
