help needed: composition for guitar and VERY easy recorder

Post by tesstonia » Fri Apr 05, 2013 7:12 pm

Are there any composers here who can give me a hand to write an accompanyment to my daughters first recorder pieces?
She has so far only learned G,A, B, C and D.
Lets say we have the following piece (from her recorder book):
half notes(minim): D,B,C,A, then quarter notes(crotchet): G,B,A,C,B,D, and half note:G.

How do I get the right chords, or a nice little melody to go with this for the guitar?
I do know some music theory, but not enough for this obviously.
thanks a lot!

also where can I find the theory for these basics, is there anything in the guitar lessons forum here at delcamp? or any books?

It's very easy to write a simple guitar (or piano) accompaniment for beginning recorder, but explaining it takes a lot longer than creating it. If you are still searching in a couple days, send me a PM, and I'll try to help you out.

Here is what I would try (Key of G):
G Maj - D,B
C Maj - C,A
G Maj - G,B
A min - A,C
B min - B,D
G Maj - G

Nice idea to play along with your student.

For the melody above, I think little more than G and F chords are needed to create a simple, pleasant accompaniment.

Thanks a lot for this, sorry, have not been online for a few days. I will try this out tomorrow!
Any other ideas of what to do with these 5 notes, an early beginner on a recorder and an early-intermediate guitar player?????
Maybe a nice short easy composition from someone?
Thanks Regina

Here is a short little piece for you. I hope you like it. The last bar in the guitar can be played in the open position if the final stretch is too much.

hello o_w_n, Thanks a lot for your work! This is great, currently printing this to have a go at it.
Maybe you should carry on and publish a book for the guitar playing parents of primary school children learning their first instrument! I guess there is a market out there, and
I doubt there is anything on the market like it. The kids tend to be proud they can play real music with mummy or daddy, hence my idea to play along, even at this very early stage.
We will try these out and if I find the time we could post a recording here:-)
cheers

Hey!

No problem, I hope they are the sort of thing you were after. If you like them, and keep me updated, I'm quite happy to produce more as your daughter progresses.

Cheers
Oliver
