Meister, Riff - Sketch in Em, winter into spring

Post by riffmeister » Fri Mar 07, 2014 4:29 pm

Played on a 1958 sp/BRW Velazquez. Oh what a nice guitar this is, truly a gem!

Recorded on a Zoom H4n with internal mics, reverb added external to the Zoom. Darn, a little bit of clipping on this one. I will re-do the recording in the not-too-distant future to fix this and a couple of minor performance flubs. Oh well, listeners, you get what you pay for! ;)

Edit: I replaced the original recording with a "better" one......no clipping this time!

So pretty, Mr. Riff Meister. I see a few little daffodil leaves popping up all ready.

Thanks for taking us into spring today.

Hi Linea, yes, there is a slight hint here, too, of the easing of cold winter days. Such a relief!!

Hi riffmeister,

a really nice miniature. Since spring is slowly coming here too, I'd like to play the piece. Is the score available somewhere?

Hi Bernhard, I am a little slow getting these miniatures scored. On my "to do" list and I will post back here when it's ready.

Thanks very much, Kent!

I re-mixed the file to fix the clipping problem of the first one.

Cool. :bravo:

It reminds me a little of Gordon Giltrap's compositions, stylistically.

Well done.

The tempo is too slow! You need to play it faster! :D :) :D

Sorry Riff - couldn't resist that one.

Lovely, and thank you for the score. And congratulations on the unassuming title....I wish Andrew York would calm down a bit.

Thank you for that. I had originally titled the piece "Ethereal Crystalline Hexagons" but thought better of it.

Score is here:
